Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (en español: La banda del club de corazones solitarios del sargento Pimienta) es un álbum de estudio editado por el grupo británico The Beatles en 1967. Este se grabó en un periodo de 129 días que comenzó el 6 de diciembre de 1966 y terminó el 1 de abril del siguiente año en los estudios Abbey Road en Londres, Inglaterra. La producción estuvo a cargo de George Martin, artífice de los anteriores álbumes de la banda.

Level 42 - Level Best (1989)



The jazzy pop/funk of British band Level 42 earned them European chart success throughout the 1980s and into the '90s. Starting out as more of a jazz fusion group, they wound up moving definitively over to the pop/R&B side, with a smooth-jazz flavour setting them apart from other English R&B acts of the era. The band, propelled by the distinctive slap-bass work of leader Mark King, broke up in the mid-'90s, but by the start of the next decade, they were performing live again, and finally released an album of new material in 2006.

Level Best (1989) is a compilation of the largest successes of the UK band Level 42.

Singles 1963–1965 is a box set compilation of the singles and EPs by The Rolling Stones spanning the years 1963 to 1965. The latest in a series of repackages by ABKCO Records, who licence The Rolling Stones' 1963–1970 recorded works, Singles 1963–1965 is the first of three successive volumes to commemorate their non-LP releases during this era.

While the set features faithful replicas of all individual single covers (even the CDs are reproduced in black), the set—and both its successors—came under some criticism as to their necessity, especially as 1989's Singles Collection: The London Years already covered this material to satisfaction. However, Singles 1963-1965 is notable for the first ever CD editions of The Rolling Stones' three British EPs released by Decca Records in 1964 and 1965, reinstating what had been long sought after recordings to the band's catalogue.

Chuck Berry - The Universal Masters Collection (1999)



Many would agree that without Chuck Berry, there would not have been rock 'n' roll. Berry's 1955 debut single, "Maybellene", was an energetic smash hit, and led to a slew of successful late-'50s songs. Influencing such future big names as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones (to name but a few), Berry effectively put boogie and blues into rock. And as demonstrated by his trademark "duck walk", he was also one of rock's original showmen.

The 1999 release Universal Masters Collection is a generous collection of 20 Chuck Berry Chess sides, including all classics apart from the hit "My Ding-A-Ling." Apart from that, this is a virtual roll call of Berry's best, containing both hits and excellent singles that didn't go quite as far on the charts but were just as good.

Epic's The Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble gathers two discs' worth of the late blues guitarist's work, including many live performances and a few tracks with the Vaughan Brothers. The collection presents Vaughan's material in roughly chronological order, from the 1980 live recording "Shake for Me" to 1989's "Life by the Drop." Sex Pistols – Never Mind the Bollocks (1977)



Along with the Clash, the Sex Pistols gave birth to the U.K. punk movement that forever changed music the world over. Inspired by New Yorkers like the Ramones and the New York Dolls, the Pistols crafted a hard-hitting, primal sound whose blazing guitars, nihilistic lyrics, and emphasis on passion/anger over technique gave rise to a musical and cultural revolution in the late 1970s. Though punk wouldn't hit the mainstream in the U.S. until the '90s, the effects of punk and its musical children--post-punk and new wave--were felt worldwide, as the Pistols ran a stake through the heart of the prog-rock and soft-rock sounds that reigned in the mid-'70s.

Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols is the first and only studio album recorded by the Sex Pistols, a highly influential and controversial English punk band. Fans and critics alike generally regard the album as an extremely important record in the history of rock music, citing the lasting influence it has had on subsequent punk musicians and other musical genres that were influenced by such punk rock artists.

The album was released on 28 October 1977 on the Virgin Records label, amid controversy arising from the use of the obscenity (in British English) "bollocks" in its title.


Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols fue el primer y único álbum de estudio de la legendaria banda punk Sex Pistols. A día de hoy es considerado uno de los trabajos musicales más influyentes del punk y el rock and roll en general. La traducción más acertada al español del título del disco sería Nos importa un huevo, aquí están los Sex Pistols o Nos chupa los cojones, aquí están los Sex Pistols.

Never Mind the Bollocks llegó pronto al #1 en la lista británica de álbumes más vendidos, sin embargo, en la lista estadounidense de Billboard solo llegó al #106. En 1998, los lectores de la Revista Q lo votaron como mejor álbum de la historia, mientras que en 2000 la misma revista lo colocó #10 en su lista de los 100 mejores discos británicos de todos los tiempos. Lenny Kravitz - Mama Said (1991)



Mama Said is second studio album by American rock musician Lenny Kravitz, released in April 1991 by Virgin Records. Then Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash co-wrote and played on the song "Always On The Run". He also played on the song "Fields of Joy". The song "All I Ever Wanted" was co-written by Sean Ono Lennon.

Mama Said became Kravitz's first U.S. Top 40 album, reaching #39 on the Billboard 200, and going on to sell 1.88 million copies in the US (as of November, 2002). Although the album has sold enough copies to be certified double platinum, the RIAA still has it listed as platinum. In the UK, the album was a big success, reaching #8 on the UK Album Chart. The album has sold over 3 million copies worldwide and established Kravitz's popularity into the worldwide market two years after his début album Let Love Rule.

The Beatles Remastered 2009








El próximo miércoles en todo el mundo saldrá a la venta la discografía remasterizada de Los Beatles

Los fans de The Beatles reclamaban desde hacía mucho tiempo esta restauración, ya que consideraban que la reedición original de las obras del grupo en CD en 1987 no estaba a la altura de los vinilos.

La totalidad de la discografía de los Beatles en versión remasterizada saldrá a la venta en todo el mundo el próximo miércoles, algo muy esperado por sus seguidores, que continúan sin poder conseguir legalmente las canciones del grupo en internet.

Los fans de The Beatles reclamaban desde hacía mucho tiempo esta restauración, ya que consideraban que la reedición original de las obras del grupo en CD en 1987 no estaba a la altura de los vinilos.

Para lograr esta obra, un equipo de ingenieros trabajó durante cuatro años sobre las bandas originales del estudio de Abbey Road en Londres, donde los Beatles grabaron casi todas sus canciones.

La "remasterización" consiste en volver a grabar interpretaciones realizadas en el pasado y mejorar su calidad empleando las tecnologías de posproducción digitales.

Desde el anuncio de la reedición, los foros y los blogs se han multiplicado en internet para saber hasta qué punto la obra de la banda de Liverpool podrá ser desempolvada sin desnaturalizarla.

"La decisión fue de suprimir, cuando era posible y en tanto en cuanto la integridad de las canciones quedaba preservada, los clics eléctricos, los ruidos de los micros relacionados con la voz (especialmente con la pronunciación de la letra p) y los silbidos excesivos", explicó la discográfica.

Esta tecnología de reducción del ruido sólo fue utilizada en "menos de 5 minutos" del total de 525 que tiene el conjunto del catálogo de los Beatles.

Y la técnica consistente en "llenar el sonido" de un disco aumentando su volumen se aplicó a las versiones en estereo, pero con la precaución de "preservar la dinámica original de las grabaciones", agrega.

En las canciones que pudo escuchar la AFP, la nueva edición hace sobresalir los detalles instrumentales de los temas clásicos de los Beatles pero sin volverlos asépticos.

Los discos compactos reeditados se venderán por unidad y en cofre. Cada álbum retomará la imagen de las carátulas inglesas de los discos originales y estará acompañado por un libreto y un minidocumental sobre su creación.

La colección completa estará formada por 14 álbumes en estéreo repartidos en 16 CD (sus 12 álbumes además de "Magical Mystery Tour" aparecido inicialmente en Estados Unidos y las dos compilaciones "Past masters"). Para los fans más incondicionales habrá un segundo cofre con toda la obra grabada en mono.

Pocos meses antes de Navidad, esta reedición mundial seguramente será un gran éxito comercial.

Además coincidirá con el día de aparición del juego de video "The Beatles: Rock Band". Los fabulosos cuatro -John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney y Ringo Starr- fueron recreados virtualmente en este juego, que permite a los jugadores unirse a los músicos británicos en su salto desde pequeños conciertos en Inglaterra hasta el estrellato.

Por el contrario, los seguidores del grupo aún tendrán que esperar para descargarse legalmente las canciones desde internet, puesto que las negociaciones todavía no finalizaron, según la discográfica.

Ladies & Gentlemen is notable for containing a large number of compilation tracks and duets that have not previously appeared on a George Michael album, including his U.S. number-one duet with Aretha Franklin, "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)", previously available on Aretha Franklin's 1986 album Aretha; "Desafinado", the duet in Portuguese with Brazilian legendary singer Astrud Gilberto; and the Elton John duet "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me", from Elton's 1993 album Duets.

Ladies & Gentlemen was released by Michael through Sony Music Entertainment as a condition of severing contractual ties with the label (Michael departed Sony with a great deal of acrimony and publicity prior to the release of Older in 1996). He would later return to Sony to release his 2004 album Patience.

"Outside" was the first single from the album. The song was a humorous look at his arrest shortly before the release of the album for soliciting a policeman in a public restroom.

"As", Michael's duet with Mary J. Blige, was released as the second single in many territories around the world. It reached #4 in the UK Singles Chart. The track was left off the North American release of the album. There were rumours that Blige's label was uncomfortable with Michael being gay, but this is contradicted by Blige's embracing of her large gay fan base (see her recent cover story in The Advocate magazine where she said "most of my fans are gay").

To date, the album has reached worldwide sales of approximately 15 million copies.

"Waltz Away Dreaming", Michael's duet with Toby Bourke, was only available on the cassette and MiniDisc versions of the album.

George Michael - Twenty Five (2006)



Twenty Five is singer George Michael's 2006 greatest hits album, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of his music career. It was released on 13 November 2006 via SonyBMG. It debuted at #1 on the UK Album Chart and #23 on the Billboard 200, and it reached the top 20 on most other album charts.

The album contains songs chiefly from George Michael's solo career, but also from his earlier days with Wham!. The album comes in two formats: a 2-CD set and a limited edition 3-CD set. The 2-CD set contains 26 tracks, including four recorded with Wham! and three new songs: "An Easier Affair", "This Is Not Real Love" (a duet with British singer Mutya Buena) and a new version of "Heal The Pain", recorded with Paul McCartney. The limited edition 3-CD version contains an additional 14 lesser known tracks, including one with Wham! and another new song called "Understand."

The DVD version of "Twenty Five" contains 40 videos on two discs, including 7 with Wham!.

The 2-CD version was released in the United States on 1 April 2008, with two changes from the international version: "Feeling Good" replaced the Wham! track "Freedom," and "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (from "Songs from the Last Century") replaced "Round Here," a track from Patience that was not released as a single in the U.S.

A 3-CD limited deluxe version was released in the United States exclusively by Best Buy. The track listing for the third CD is the same as the international version, but unlike the 2-CD U.S. version, the deluxe version includes "Freedom" instead of "Feeling Good." The 3-CD version is packaged in a digipak. It includes a 36-page color booklet with lyrics for every track, along with screen shots from the videos for most of the tracks on the first two CDs. TwentyFive debuted at #23 on the Billboard 200 chart. Current US sales stand at 94,000 copies sold. The album currently holds a 2 times IFPI platinum certification, selling more than 2 million copies. Worldwide sales stand close to 3.5 million copies sold.

Enigma – MCMXC a.D.



MCMXC a.D. (1990 in Roman numerals followed by a seemingly incorrect abbreviation of "Anno Domini") is a concept album created by the musical project Enigma, spearheaded by Michael Cretu. It was Enigma's debut album and one of the most influential albums ever produced in the New Age genre. The project's popularity soon soared beyond Cretu's expectations after the album's launch, as it reached number 1 position in charts of 41 countries.

Four singles were excerpted from this album: "Sadeness (Part I)", "Principles of Lust", "Mea Culpa (Part II)" and "The Rivers of Belief". "Sadeness" and MCMXC a.D. itself hit No. 1 on the UK singles and albums charts respectively on its UK debut in January 1991. On the U.S. market "Sadeness (Part I)" reached fifth place on the Billboard Hot 100 and MCMXC a.D. made sixth place on the Billboard 200 and remained in the charts for a total of 282 weeks.

MCMXC a.D. was one of the first albums to be recorded on a hard disk after Cretu's upgrade to the A.R.T. Studio.

Enigma - The Cross of Changes (1993)



The Cross of Changes is a 1993 album by the musical project Enigma. It is Enigma's second album, following MCMXC a.D., released three years earlier.

The most notable song of the album was "Return to Innocence", which was released as a single and featured in several film soundtracks. A more rock-infused sound is present in The Cross of Changes, and the Gregorian chants from the previous album were replaced with ethnic-style world chants. The Ami (Native Taiwanese) chants featured in "Return to Innocence" are often wrongly identified as Native American.

Love Sensuality Devotion: The Greatest Hits is a 2001, multi-million selling, greatest hits compilation album by the musical project, Enigma. The album, along with Love Sensuality Devotion: The Remix Collection brings a close to Michael Cretu's first chapter of Enigma. It contains most of Enigma's singles and songs from 1990 to 2000.

The album takes 3 songs from the first album, MCMXC a.D., 4 songs from The Cross of Changes, 4 songs from Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!, 5 songs from The Screen Behind the Mirror and also features a new single - "Turn Around" and its intro - "The Landing".
