Non-Valencia La Liga Football thread

#1 Mensajepor hoser » 09 Dic 2008 19:15

I suppose discussing all things Valencia can leave you a bit handcuffed. Valencia is everyone's first love sure, but there is a world beyond Los Che in Spain. So, the point of this thread is to discuss the non-Valencia goings on in the world of Spain.

For example, Juande Ramos is the new coach of Real Madrid. I hope he does for Los Merengues what he did for Spurs. Will he succeed where the German failed or can Ramos alone not correct Madrid's shaky defence?

well i think the german was a good coach but the problem madrid had was moral... like with koeman, if the team is not motivated there is no way it can win!! but in spain one of the problems with teams is that coaches are allways guilty...

and what about barça??

I was thinkin about opening a similiar topic. :)

If barca continues this way, they can only lose the championship not other team can win it. They have the best team, a good coach, some exceptional world calss players. They are way above us and the rest.

Clasificación 1ª división
1 Barcelona 41
2 Sevilla 31
3 Atlético 30
4 Valencia 30
5 R. Madrid 29
6 Villarreal 29

Damn, this barca is unstoppable. Regarding last season, and the team we have we are in a good position.

Ha ha! Madrid is trying to have Huntelaar and Lassana Diarra registered for the Champions League despite them playing in the UEFA Cup, well Huntelaar I'm sure, the other not so sure.

Nice to see that Madrid is still trying to have the world accept football on their terms. Morons.

Atletico Madrid have done the inevitable: they've canned Aguirre. Determined to save them from further misfortune is Abel Resino from Castellon.

I was hoping that Aguirre would stick around a bit longer, just enough for them to secure the coveted 10th spot in the table at season's end.

Hehe. I wonder whether Resino will use Banega or not.

Sevilla lost yesterday. Betis signed back Oliveira and he scored in his 1st match, I always thought about signing Oliveira back. He could have been a good Moro replacement.
But now it seems impossible to get him.

Ricardo Oliveira? No thanks, as he seems to me to be a bit of an enigma. One player I wish we would have signed was Ola Toivonen who now plays for PSV as he was just signed from Malmo for 4.2 million euros, which buys you two thirds of an Arizmendi and a quarter of a Zigic according to Valencia market economics...Valencia really has been run by morons the last 18 months. Anyway, Toivenen looks to be a good player, he has Arizmendi's height, some dribbling skill, decent speed and a good shot. I bet he'll score a bunch of goals for PSV in this half of the season - he already has something like 4 in 4 games.

Atletico and Villarreal both won, which isn't the best of news. Banega played a staggering 5 plus minutes while Bellvis came on as a sub for Numancia and played something like half an hour from a LM position.

Well, Real Madrid have actually done something smart for a change: they signed Pellegrini away from Villarreal.

I'm not sure how Pellegrini will translate at Real Madrid. I really like him as a coach, not that Villarreal plays an attractive style, but that he can seemingly coax results out of a roster that is well, mostly rather bland save for a few very good players such as Senna, Capdevila, Cazorla, and maybe Rossi.

Will Pellegrini's style change to accommodate a locker room full of enormous egos and the demands for attractive football or will he revert to his usual defensive pragmatism to get results?

Well I don't think he will be capable to make madrid play as beatiful as barca and score 100+ goals, + win 3 trophies cause these are their goals. I'm not glad the moneybag returned. Now they try to buy every star they can.
I hope the summer will be just like the last, they will be turned down by every player and frustatedly chasing what's left at the end. It's good to hear that Kaka doesn't wanna leave milan. I don't wanna see him in madrid. Plus man city is chasing Barry, and if they can get him, then Benítez won't let Alonso go to madrid.
But this way or another barca and madrid will be stronger next year. + we have sevilla and atleti, and villareal as opponents to reach the CL.
So it will be hard.

Oh I just read that villareal signed Valverde. Too bad not Victor Fernandez :D
And Aragonez was fired from fener. :P

Well, the Florentino Perez madness begins anew. Kaka signed from Milan for a mere 65 million euros. I guess allegedly dating 18 year olds has become quite costly for Berlusconi? My largest hope for Madrid is that Perez gets rid of the few useful players they have, Diarra comes to mind, and fills the locker room with egomaniacal prima donnas that make the team a dysfunctional mess, sort of like the tale end of Perez's reign last time.

Insane. Cronaldo has just been signed away from Man U for something like 80 million pounds. That may actually cover the entire yearly wages of all Valencia players next year. And I thought there would be an economic downturn in transfers this summer?

Madrid now has the last two Ballon d'Or winners signed. I shudder to think what Ronaldo, Kaka, Sneijder, and Higuain will do to our defense if Albelda is on the pitch taking his usual Sunday stroll - might make it look like a training ground exercise. Strange thing is is that Perez isn't finished his shopping. By the time the summer transfer window is done Madrid may actually spend over 200 million euros, enough money to cover at least a quarter to a third of Valencia's debt. Incredible.

Seems like villareal lost their Benítez. They are very shitty this year. I hope they keep it up this way.

Football is strange sometimes. I really think that Valverde is the best Spanish coach at the moment. Villarreal got some very good players as Marcano, Fuster or Nilmar, but they are playing crap.

Yeah, Valverde? I'm not entirely sure of the landscape of Spanish coaches, but Marcelino is still pretty decent in my mind. I think with the squad they have - Arizmendi! - a mid table result would be good for Zaragoza. Lotina's done some decent things at La Coruña also, though getting Sociedad relegated a few years back looks bad on his resume.

It looks like you like defending coaches :)

I think valverde is the closest coach to Benitez. He plays with an equilibrated 4-4-2, with the lines one next to the other...

Well, not really defensive specialists, but rather coaches who can get the most out of their roster, given what they have to work with. I soured a little bit last season on Marcelino when he spurned Valencia for Zaragoza's bank vault, but I still think he is a good coach - he did after all get a team with Arizmendi in it to be promoted back to the top flight, that must count for something.

Abel Resino, current conductor of that terrible orchestra that is Atletico de Madrid, has been relieved of his duties. In to take up the baton and try to get the team to play something that resembles a decent tune is defensive pragmatist and 'under acknowledged coaching genius' Quique Sanchez Flores. I will triumph QSF's return only if he completes his Wagnerian Ring Cycle line-up by bringing Helguera back from the dead and then signing Gabi to complement Pernia, which is a player I believe he wanted for some time. Maybe he can see if he can get Canizares out of retirement because maybe Asenjo 'isn't yet a man'?

It will only be a matter of time before some lazy journalist/manager creates some kind of rumour linking a Valencia player to Atletico. Actually, if the player is Albelda that wouldn't be such a terrible thing.

Hahaha!!!!
Good news. With QSF it's guaranteed that atletico won't win anything. Gabi came to my mind too as a future signing, or maybe he could tempt back Arizmendi lol! Signing of Helguera would be the unbelievable superduper megalol. Actually atletico is looking for a dm and cb... so both Gabi and Helguera can be serious options.:D
I'm glad though that Laudrup refused them, I like him.

I wonder how long villareal gonna hold on with Valverde.
